The Digital Shark Edit Studio is the creation of Alan Bazin, an editor that began his career by working at The Pi Edit Company (now called 22), a high-end commercial post production facility in NYC's famous flat iron district. During the five years he spent there as a staff editor, he worked on countless broadcast commercial campaigns including multiple spots for American Express, Martha Stewart Everyday, Foxwoods Casinos and Hasbro Toys. His goal became to open his own, home-based Avid studio where he could choose to work on projects of interest to him personally, and also offer a lower cost alternative to producers, filmmakers and artists unable to afford the rates charged by commercial edit studios. And through his continuing relationship with 22 in NYC and the Avid system's cross compatibility, any project can be on-lined at uncompressed resolution and mastered to digital beta for the highest commercial broadcast quality. By coming to Digital Shark, clients get the editorial experience, expertise and creativity normally found in only the most expensive suites, but at an affordable price. In addition, Alan's extensive background in film studies (at both LIU and NYU) and film production (on both major studio films and independent) as well as his years of experience performing as a drummer (under the name Al Batross) with some of New York's most legendary underground musical groups combine to give him an artistic perspective and a level of creativity and insight you won't find anywhere else. After all, great editors have an excellent sense of rhythm. In 2006, Alan began work on his first film, a documentary about Japanese musicians living and performing in NYC, drawing upon his own experience performing with four all Japanese bands. Alan is also at work on a secret "coffee table book" of photographs captured around NYC, where he has lived since 1987.
